Inde , Empire Moghol. Mohur zodiacal AH 1028 - an 13, Agra. Inscription sur quatre lignes / Deux poissons tête-bêche dans un cercle radié. 10,96g. KM 180.2.
Rare en cet état. Superbe exemplaire.
L’empereur Jahangir nota dans son journal : « Avant cela, la règle dans le monnayage était de faire figurer mon nom sur une face et d’inscrire sur le revers le nom du lieu, le mois, et l’année du règne. Il me vint à l’idée qu’au lieu du mois, on devrait placer la figure de la constellation liée à ce mois... Cet usage est mien, et n’a jamais été pratiqué auparavant ». Les poissons étaient le signe de Bahman, le onzième mois de l’année ilahi, tandis que le lion était celui d’Armardad, le cinquième mois. Les mohurs portant les signes du zodiaque furent généralement frappés à Agra, la capitale, et sont très prisés des collectionneurs.

The gold zodiacal muhurs were generally struck at the capital mint of Agra and are highly prized by collectors.
